Additional Comments

Now that was fun, finally getting an opportunity to visit a setting I had in my head for about a year by now. I hadn't written that way for about a decade, just sitting down to type away with nothing in mind but the ending I wanted to arrive at.

My other work available so far is non-fiction in German, so this was a new experience in many ways. I love science fiction but had not gotten around to publish any of it before, being busy with my non-fiction work.

However, I will definitely change the cover later, not happy with the result, but also unable to find something better at the moment.

I wrote a blog post on the book, starting the English version of my blog in the process.

Author: Eelkat/Wendy C. Allen
Genre: Paranormal Erotic Horror
Total Words: 8,000+
Completion Time: 8 hours

Description

In 1814, Bethany Matthews answered an advertisement for a mail-order bride. Shortly after arriving in America from London, she was murdered.

In 2014, Becky Burnhart finds herself plagued with dreams about a mail-order bride on her way to America to start a new life.

When Becky discovers the girl in her dreams was real and was murdered, she sets off to a local haunted house to uncover what happened that night 200 years ago at Willowhurst Manor.

This short story of Literary Gothic Monster Porn Erotic Horror was written as part of The August 2014 Eight Hour Fiction Challenge and is only 7,653 words long or approximately 30 printed paperback pages.

ADULT CONTENT WARNING: This fictional work of Literary Gothic Monster Porn Erotic Horror contains sex scenes between a female human and a male ghost. The sex partners in this story are M/f. This book is unsuitable for young readers and anyone who finds sexual encounters with ghosts objectionable. There is also a murder scene which may bother more sensitive readers of Literary Fiction, but would be seen as rather tame by anyone who reads more graphic Horror.

This story is M-Rated and intended for adults only!

ABOUT THE SERIES: EelKat's Captured By Faeries is a collection of Monster Porn Short Stories and Novellas, many of which are inspired by classic (and often obscure) Fairy Tales, FolkLore, and Mythology. Most of the titles in this series are very short from less than 5,000 words long to as many as 18,000 words long. Most stories in this series can be read in under an hour or less. Many are short enough to be read in as little as 15 minutes.

WARNING: While there is strong sexual content in these stories, this series is Horror, not Romance or Erotica! The stories in this series do not have Happy Ever After Endings! If you are looking for HEA, HFN, Romance, or Erotica, you are in the wrong place and this story is not for you. In EelKat's Captured By Faeries, Villains win, Humans die, and Monsters reign supreme. The violence level is often high, in these often Splatter Punk tales of Slasher Gorn Horror. However, while these stories are not "true Erotica", do be aware that they do have highly erotic, often very explicit sexual content in them. This series does classify as Monster Porn on some levels due to all of the stories in the series containing humans having sexual encounters with various monster: Faeries, ghosts, demons, weres, shifters, mythical creatures, aliens, vampires, merfolk, and other types of monsters. All titles in this series are M-Rated/18+ and intended for adults only!

Title: In the Hands of the Smith
Author: Misti Wolanski
Genre: Fantasy
Total Words: 3,200
Completion Time: It took me 9.42 hours (565 minutes) for everything—drafting, editing, cover design, file formatting, and upload to 5 different sites. If not for that, I could've had formatting done in 30 minutes and had everything done in 7 hrs.

(A short story of about 3,200 words / 11 pages / 12 minutes for the average reader.)

About The Author

Misti Wolanski has always loved to play in fantasy land, though it took her a while to realize that her mind games were fun enough that others would want to join in, too. In her spare time, she likes crocheting and knitting jewelry, baby clothes, and small toys. However, unlike the narrator in the popular-on-Wattpad A Fistful of Fire, she does not embroider.

She also writes dystopia (as Cara Lee), dark fantasy for adults (as Carralee Byrd), and space opera (as Misty White).

This is the first such requested story that I finished, and the fan who won it very much enjoyed it. :-)

Unleash Thyself was written in honor of Robin Williams, a masterful comedian and actor who recently passed away. You found her! The hottest chick you've ever laid eyes on wants you and only you.

But aren't you forgetting something?

You're broke, and this chick is way out of your league. She's scorching hot and you're…well…lucky to have her. Or so you think...

This short volume will help demystify the impact of high maintenance hotties and encourage you to resist the urge to go into debt  to appease her.

EXCERPT FROM FIVE REASONS WHY DATING HOT CHICKS IS A BAD IDEA

Face it: You’re a cheap bastard! So cheap, it’s amazing that you can find a date at all. Even your five-year-old brother who doesn’t have a dollar to his name isn’t as cheap as your sorry ass. Still, there might be good reason not to date that hot chick you met at the mall last week; reasons that go far beyond conventional wisdom that you’ve considered thus far.

Let this guide be a warning to you, because dating hot chicks isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

Eight Hour Fiction Challenge + Fantastic Finishes (September 2014)

It's September already, and that means it's time for the next Eight Hour Fiction Challenge! A lot has changed from when the challenge was first issued by Joe Konrath. The most notable addition comes this month. Please take note of Rule #9 (Fantastic Finishes):
Starting September 2014, I will accept entries for Fantastic Finishes. These are works that are started but not finished. By investing as little as 8 hours (or up to the maximum 24), an author can challenge themselves to bring closure to their languishing work as well as edit, design a cover, and publish it on one of the major vendors' stores. A special Fantastic Finishes section will be added to the monthly results and has the same requirements (Author, Title, etc.) as other entries. Please mention that it's one of the Fantastic Finishes in your correspondence so that it can be added to the appropriate section.
If you have an incomplete work that's sitting on your hard drive, invest 8 hours into it (or up to 24) and see if you can finish it. I'd be happy to add it to the new Fantastic Finishes section that we'll be featuring.

Good luck, and hope to see you at the finish line!

THE IDEA

To write, edit and publish a work of fiction in eight hours or less. You are free to write whatever you wish. The author is responsible for all aspects of the creative process, including cover creation (whether you do it yourself or have someone else do it) and posting it to at least one major e-book vendor (typically Amazon).

RULES

1. Everyone is welcome to participate in the challenge.

2. You may take the challenge as often as you like.

3. You are free to write whatever you like. No work will be excluded because of its subject matter or genre.

4. The hours worked do not have to be consecutive.

5. Although writers are encouraged to attempt the challenge in 8 hours or less, you may use up to 24 hours to ensure quality and completion of your work.

6. E-mail me the following details to donaldrump@segordon.com by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month:
  • Title
  • Author Name
  • Genre
  • Total Words
  • Completion Time (This is used to determine the 8/12/24 hour categories.)
  • Book Cover (Please limit this to 350 pixels in width.)

  • About The Author (No limitations. Include information about your blog and other forms of social media here.)
  • Date(s) free
  • Link(s) (If it's not on Amazon, a link to one of the other major vendors will do. Affiliate links are accepted.)
  • Additional Comments (Optional. Tell us what you learned from the challenge, obstacles that you had to overcome, shameless promotion, etc.)
Early submissions are encouraged and will be added to the Submissions for the Current Challenge page.

7. If your book is in Kindle Unlimited, I may grab a copy, earning you a borrow and (possibly) a review.

8. A link back to the Eight Hour Fiction Challenge in your e-book is appreciated but not required.
